Week 9 -- Thing 23

Lifetime Learning -- This has been a great experience. I feel so good to have completed the program, but I am also glad that I will use the things that I have learned. This has not only benefited me, but will also benefit my students. I think overall the most useful thing that I learned was to use the web as a tool. I think that the blog will be very useful in my classroom and that all of the other tools we explored can be used through that format. Thanks so much for getting me started on this adventure of life long learning.

Week 9 -- Thing 22

eBooks and Audio eBooks -- I really like the Gutenberg Project and I love audio eBooks. This is a great way to get students to realize the world that is beyond their front door. I think that this can cause the students to begin to desire more in their lives and therefore help them to become more successful students and adults.

Week 9 -- Thing 21

Podcasts -- I enjoyed the podcasts. I found a few that are math related. It is so good to be able to get a new prespective on how to make this subject interesting to students. I think that podcasts can be very beneficial.

Week 9 -- Thing 20

I love youtube! It is sooo much fun. I think it must be one of the most popular sites of all times. You can find anything there. Here is a video that I found and thought that it would be very inspirational for my students. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuOyBFEAylU

Week 8 -- Thing 19

Every time I discover a new site, I think that I've seen it all. Yet here is another great place -- LibraryThing. I loved it. As a teacher, this will be a great tool to use for a class or school blog. I love this place.

Week 8 -- Thing 18

The Zoho Word processor is very nice. I really like the different options it has over the standard word processors that I generally use. The fact that you can use it from any computer and that it is compatiable to more users is very attractive. It was also very user friendly.

Week 7 -- Thing 17

I checked out the California cl2.0 website and put an entry in the sandbox. I did not really get a lot from the site. Maybe I was not looking in the right places.

Week 7 -- Thing 16

Wikis ~~ Fantastic tool for the library. I loved the wikis that I viewed. It makes research so easy. I also love that the librarian is available for chats. I think wikis can also be used in the classroom. The ones that I looked at were great, allowing both teacher and student access to information from each other. The student will no longer have to worry about missing an assignment because it is available online. Parents can also see what their students and teachers are doing.

Week 5 -- Thing 12

Complete. At last, I had a hard time getting the Rollyo search on my blog. Of course, I finally discovered that I was not reading all of the instructions. How many times do tell our students, "Read ALL of the instuctions before you begin."? Now, I have personal experience to tell them that it really does help.

Week 5 -- Thing 11

Checking out the Web 2.0 awards list was fun. I found many that I liked. I love organization, so those were the first that I looked at. I think that any of the three listed -- Google Apps, Zoho, or Backpack could be wonderful tools for professionals or non-professionals. For fun, I really liked the music Pandora. Here you list the type of music or artists that you like and a radio station is created that plays your type of music. How fun is that!!

Week 5 -- Thing 10

I am a little out of sequence with my week 5, but here I am, at last. I actually played with the generator during the "real" week 5. However, I was so undecided about what to put on my page that I got behind with all of the assignments. The generator is fun and has the potential to add lots of energy to blogs and other Web assignments.

Week 6 -- Thingy 15

While reading the prespectives about Library 2.0, I really liked many of the ideas. To me, it would be great to have instant messaging and to be able to meet with different users online. Another great idea is to have weblogs and wikis. I also thought that the prespective about controlling "technolust" was very good. As always, our use of technology should be based on its usefulness.

Week 6 Thingy 14

Technorati -- this is a pretty neat search method. I like using the tags and searching for blogs. It will really be helpful while doing research.

Week 6 -- Thingy 13

I really, really like this new way to save my favorites. This is actually an area where I have had issues with my favorites list. Many times, I have needed to access the list from a remote computer, now it is available. Yea!! This is Del.icio.us.
